The Miracle Plant

Spekboom — Nature's Carbon Sponge

Portulacaria afra, known locally as Spekboom, is a remarkable native succulent capable of sequestering up to 10 tonnes of carbon per hectare per year — rivalling tropical rainforests. South Africa's thicket restoration movement, of which CCDV is a proud part, targets 800,000 hectares of degraded Eastern Cape land.
